What Is the Distracted Boyfriend Meme?

The image shows a man walking with a woman in a blue top while turning to look at another woman in a red top as she passes by. His companion looks at him with an annoyed expression. The three captions label the boyfriend, the person or thing he is looking at, and the person or thing he is neglecting. The format expresses temptation, shifting attention, or choosing a new interest over a familiar one.

It is also searched as the distracted boyfriend template, man looking back meme, or boyfriend looking at another girl meme.

Where the Meme Comes From

The image is a staged stock photograph by photographer Antonio Guillem. It became widely used as a meme in 2017, spreading across social media as people added labels to the three figures to show competing interests. The photograph’s clear expressions and glances made it easy to adapt to everyday choices, trends, and arguments.

How to Use the Template

Use the three labels to set up a contrast between a familiar option and a tempting distraction:

1. Distracted person: label the man turning to look, such as “Me.”
2. New temptation: label the woman in red, such as “A new hobby.”
3. Neglected option: label the woman in blue, such as “The hobbies I already started.”
