What Is the X, X Everywhere Meme?

The classic X, X Everywhere meme shows two animated characters from Toy Story. Woody stands on the left, looking uneasy, while Buzz Lightyear stands beside him and points outward with one hand. The joke uses the pointing gesture to show that a thing named in the text is suddenly appearing all around. It can describe a trend, a repeated problem, a familiar topic taking over a conversation, or anything that seems impossible to avoid.

The two text boxes usually name the thing being noticed and the situation where it keeps appearing. The template is also searched as X Everywhere, Buzz Lightyear pointing meme, and Buzz Woody everywhere meme.

Where the Meme Comes From

The image comes from the animated film Toy Story 2, released in 1999. Woody and Buzz are shown together, with Buzz gesturing toward something beyond the frame. The image became a widely shared internet meme in the early 2010s, often paired with the phrase “X, X everywhere” to make the pointing gesture read as a comment on repetition or overuse. Its exact first use as a meme is not firmly established.

How to Use the Template

Use the first box for the thing that keeps appearing and the second for where or how it shows up.

1. Thing everywhere: Name the repeated subject, such as “Tiny house videos.”
2. Where it appears: Give the place or context, such as “Every social feed.”

Keep the two labels brief so the image and pointing gesture carry the joke.

Make It a Video Meme

This image works as a short video with a slight turn or shift from Woody and Buzz, while Buzz’s pointing hand makes a small natural movement. Clips longer than 10 seconds get more reach on X, and you can make the video right on this page.
