They Don't Know Meme Template & Generator

What Is the They Don't Know Meme?

They Don't Know is a black-and-white line drawing of a party. A person in a cone hat stands alone at the left, holding a drink, while groups of people talk and dance on the right and in the foreground. The usual caption names a private interest, thought, or small personal achievement that the partygoers do not know about. The joke is the gap between the crowd's ordinary conversation and the unnoticed fact that feels important to the person standing apart.

Where the Meme Comes From

The drawing is commonly associated with the “They Don't Know” meme format, which circulated online as a party scene captioned with the phrase “They don't know...” and a personal detail. The image is a simple line illustration rather than a still from a film or television show. The format spread through online meme communities and social media; its precise original artist and first posting are not firmly established.

How to Use the Template

Use the two text boxes for the thought and the people who are unaware of it:

1. They don't know: Put the unshared fact, interest, or accomplishment here, such as “I finished every book in the series.”
2. Party thought: Add a short reaction or reinforce the feeling of being unnoticed, such as “and nobody here has read them.”

Keep the detail specific and personal. It can be something trivial, niche, or unexpectedly meaningful to you.
