What Is the They're the Same Picture Meme?
This meme has two blank picture spaces held up side by side above a seated woman, with a line of yellow text asking someone to find the differences. A second caption at the bottom delivers the punchline: “They're the same picture.” It is used to compare two things that look different on the surface but are essentially alike, or to point out that two choices have the same outcome. Common searches include They're the Same Picture template and Corporate Needs You to Find the Differences.
Where the Meme Comes From
The image comes from a scene in the American version of *The Office*. Pam Beesly holds up two pictures while a corporate representative asks her to identify their differences; she says they are the same picture. The scene became a widely shared reaction image and meme, particularly online in the late 2010s. The template usually keeps the original prompt and punchline while replacing the two blank picture areas with the things being compared.
